The Bible Story of Joshua
After Moses died, God chose Joshua to lead the Israelites. God told Joshua to be strong and courageous because He would be with him wherever he went.
One of the first great miracles in Joshua’s story is crossing the Jordan River. When the priests carrying the ark stepped into the water, the Jordan River stopped flowing, and the people crossed over on dry ground.
Another famous event is the fall of Jericho. God told Joshua and the Israelites to march around the city once a day for six days. On the seventh day they marched around it seven times, blew the trumpets, and shouted. Then the walls of Jericho fell down.
The story of Joshua and the wall of Jericho reminds children that God’s instructions may seem unusual, but His people are called to trust and obey Him.
Later, during a battle, Joshua prayed and God worked a miracle in the story of Joshua and the sun standing still. The sun stood still so that Israel could finish the battle. This showed once again that God was fighting for His people.
