The Bible Story of Paul

Paul was first known as Saul. Before he followed Jesus, Saul strongly opposed Christians. He believed he was doing the right thing, and he tried to stop the followers of Jesus.

One day, Saul was traveling to Damascus. As he neared the city, a bright light from heaven flashed around him. Saul fell to the ground and heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him.

Jesus asked Saul why he was persecuting Him. After this encounter, Saul could not see. The men traveling with him led him into Damascus.

For three days, Saul remained blind. Then God told a disciple named Ananias to go to him. Ananias obeyed, prayed for Saul, and Saul’s sight was restored. Saul was baptized, and his life changed completely.

From that point on, Saul — later called Paul — began preaching that Jesus is the Son of God.

Paul traveled to many places telling people about Jesus. His journeys were not easy. He faced hardship, danger, prison, and storms, but he continued to trust God.

In one story, Paul and Silas were thrown into prison. Even though they had been beaten and chained, they prayed and sang hymns to God. During the night, an earthquake shook the prison, the doors opened, and the chains came loose. Through this event, the jailer and his family heard the good news about Jesus.

Paul also spent time writing letters to churches and believers. Even when he was under guard or facing difficulties, Paul encouraged others through his words. His letters became an important part of the New Testament and continue to teach Christians today.

Later, Paul traveled by ship and was caught in a terrible storm. The ship was wrecked, but God protected everyone on board, and they reached shore safely.

Paul’s life shows children that Jesus can completely change a person. It also teaches that following Jesus may be difficult, but God gives strength to keep going.

Paul wrote:

“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

— Philippians 4:13

Paul’s story reminds children that God can give His people strength in every situation.
